How this works

Questions marked Key matter most. If you’re short on time, press “Key questions only” and answer those first.

Your answers are saved in this browser as you type. When you’re done, press “Save brief” to download a file, then email it to sales@denaliws.com. You can open that file here again later to carry on.

1You and your business

A sentence or two is plenty.

2The problem

The best software starts from what’s going wrong today, not from a list of features.

For example: “we re-type every order into three places”, “nobody knows which jobs are booked”.

Who does what, with which tools: paper, spreadsheets, email, other software.

Names are enough. Say which ones you like and which you’d happily replace.

Hours a week, mistakes, missed sales, late invoices. A guess is fine.

3What you’d like built

What would someone do with it on a normal day? Rough is fine.

What kind of thing do you think it is?
Who will use it? Key

One per line. The things it would be useless without.

One per line.

Names or links, and what you like about them.

4Information and connections

For example: customers, jobs, stock, appointments, hours, invoices.

Spreadsheets, another program, paper. Will it need moving across?

Does it need to work with anything you already use?
Will it hold sensitive information?

For example: staff see their own jobs, managers see everything, customers see only their account.

5Running it

What will people use it on?
Where should it run?
Will you want changes and support after it’s built?

For example: you need to own the code outright, or it has to stay on your own servers.

6Timing, budget and decisions

And why, if there’s a reason: a season, a contract, a launch.

What budget do you have in mind? Key
Is a monthly cost OK for hosting and support?

Numbers help: “invoices go out the same day”, “saves 5 hours a week”.

7Anything else
